The Egyptian city of Esna (Arabic: إسنا Coptic: Ⲥⲛⲏ (Sne)), known to the ancient Egyptians as Egyptian: Iunyt or Ta-senet; Greek: Λατόπολις (Latopolis)[1] or πόλις Λάτων (Polis Laton)[2] or Λάττων (Laton)[3][4]; Latin: Lato, is located on the west bank of the River Nile, some 55 km south of Luxor, in the modern Qena Governorate.
